View from Oceanside's City Pier	The Beautiful Pacific Coast North San Diego County has 26 miles of beautiful coastline, 21 Accessible Beaches and an Oceanside Marina and Community Pier. They offer many activities including opportunities for sailing, motor boating, fishing, ocean swimming, surfing, sunbathing, coastal hiking and beachside camping. If you prefer less strenuous activities, you might try dining at a beachside cafe (such as the Beach House), picnicking on the sand or just walking the beach and enjoying the  fascinating sights of beach activities-  surfers, interesting people, fishermen, seabirds, dolphins, boats and beautiful sunsets. Or you may prefer to just sit and experience the mesmerizing sight and sound of waves hitting the shore.
Old California Restaurant Row in San Marcos	Adventures in Dining Out North San Diego County has more than 1500 Restaurants that offer nearly every type of cuisine imaginable, most at reasonable prices. For grocery shopping, North County has are more than 50 convenient supermarkets plus five Trader Joes' Neighborhood Grocery Stores, eight Sprouts (and formerly Henry's) Farmers Markets that offer more farm-fresh foods, and more than 100 other specialty food markets. Escondido's California Center for the Arts	Arts and Entertainment Local entertainment opportunities seem nearly limitless (see our Senior Activities Directory), they include more than 21 North County Live Theaters. North County favorites include the excellent Escondido Performing Arts Center, Vista's Moonlight Stage Productions and Escondido's Lawrence Welk Resort Dinner Theater. Nearby San Diego has many additional live theaters, plus the San Diego Opera, the San Diego Symphony Orchestra and the San Diego City Ballet Company. Additional entertainment selections include 118 movie screens, animal shows at San Diego Zoo's San Diego Safari Park in Escondido, Casino Show's in Valley Center, Street Fairs in Carlsbad, Oceanside, San Marcos, Escondido and Fallbrook, Summer Concerts in various city parks, Del Mar's Hot-air Balloon Rides, the excellent San Diego County Fair and the hundreds of other activities throughout the year at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
Year-round Golf at Your Choice of 62 Nearby Courses	Sports Participatory Sports: North San Diego County offers a choice of 62 Nearby Golf Courses. It also offers a variety of fishing choices- Deep Sea, surf, lagoon, pier and fresh water (If you really love fishing, you can join the Oceanside Senior Anglers or the Escondido Senior Anglers. Other sports include- Ice Skating, Senior Softball, Senior Horseshoes (760.297-7225), and other senior sports such as tennis and bowling leagues. Our cities also provide over 100 of miles of hiking trails. Many of our roads have bike lanes and the city of Carlsbad sponsors Marathons throughout the year and a yearly Carlsbad 5000 Meter race. Petco Park Where the Padre's Play	Spectator Sports: Nearby spectator sports include San Diego's MLB Padres Baseball and NFL Chargers Football games, the famous Del Mar Thoroughbred Races at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and  NASCAR auto racing at the Auto Club Speedway (about 1 hour 15 minutes away in Fontana).
Del Mar Thoroughbred Races	Off Track  Racing & Casino Gambling The famous Del Mar races run every year at the Del Mar Fairgrounds with Para-mutual betting all year long. Four Indian Gambling Casinos located near Valley Center offer gambling, fine dining and excellent shows.

Work and Volunteer Opportunities San Diego County has many high-tech companies, with more than 200 in the telecommunications industry alone. Carlsbad, home for high-end ski and golf equipment manufacturers is called " Sports City, U.S.A. " Nearby Sorrento Valley was recently named "Telecom Valley" and nearby LaJolla has been declared the "Epicenter for the region's biotech industry."
