San Marcos Description- ∙ The incorporated city of San Marcos consists of 3 communities: San Marcos, Lake San Marcos and newer San Elijo Hills. They are located near the center of North County and 6 to 13 miles inland from the coast. ∙ San Marcos is a modern, vibrant city with a Crime Rate well below the U.S. average. The city has a total of 12 city parks and 56 miles (soon to be 72 miles) of interlinked walking trails. Its parks include 4 Dog Parks.
